A puncture for the #31 Action Express Cadillac V-Series.R caused a crash which put the car out of contenbtion for the win in this year's IMSA Daytona 24 Hours.
Daytona debutant Frederik Vesti was at the wheel of the car at the time, crashing on the final part of the oval as the tyre gave up.
'I'm feeling all OK,' said the Danish racing driver in a statement to media.
'It was a pretty big crash. Initially I thought it was a mistake from my side.
'But after I saw the video, it looks like a puncture or some other failure, which is very, very unfortunate for the team.
Vesti hit the wall hard on the banking, ricocheting back across the track and coming to rest on the other side of the oval banking.
He initially tried to drive the car back to the pits, but there was a large amount of damage to the front of the car, including broken suspension and bodywork hanging off.
The safety crew art the track recovered the car and towed it back to the garage, where it remains with the team working on fixing it.
'We were running in such a good position for the race,' Vesti continued.
'I think it was almost halfway through and we were among the top teams in terms of pace and strategy and everything.
'Really frustrated and sad for the team who put so much effort since testing in November, the Roar and everything.
They are still working to bring back the car into the race. It would be a pretty amazing effort if we could actually finish the race with a crash like that. For now the focus is to analyze what we wrong and see what we can do for the rest of the race,' he concluded.
